Kano Governor Reshuffles Cabinet, Sacks SSG and Five Commissioners



The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has decided to make significant changes to his cabinet. Among these changes is the removal of five commissioners and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi. Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, who serves as the spokeswoman for the Governor, made the statement on Thursday, December 12th.


In addition, the Office of the Chief of Staff, which was formerly held by Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, was eliminated as a result of the shake-up. It was said by Dawakin-Tofa that the restructure is a component of the administration's efforts to improve performance and political alignment. 


Commissioners Ibrahim Jibril Fagge (Finance), Ladidi Ibrahim Garko (Culture and Tourism), Baba Halilu Dantiye (Information and Internal Affairs), Shehu Aliyu Yammedi (Special Duties), and Abbas Sani Abbas (Rural and Community Development) are among those who have been impacted by this situation.


In accordance with the statement, the termination of Dr. Bichi was attributed to circumstances that were related to his health. Not only were some members of the cabinet removed from their positions, but they were also moved to different responsibilities. Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam was transferred from the Ministry of Local Government to the Ministry of Higher Education.


This change was made in order to better serve the country. Among the other significant reassignments are, from the Ministry of Science and Technology to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Honourable Mohammad Tajo Usman addressed the audience.

A woman named Amina Abdullahi, who is currently serving as the Commissioner for Women, Children, and Disabled Affairs. On the subject of Special Duties, the Honourable Nasiru Sule Garo discusses the environment and climate change.


For example, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, who served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, who served as Agriculture Commissioner, and Hon. Musa Suleiman Shannon, who served as Budget and Planning Commissioner, all continued to serve in their respective capacities.


It has been advised by the Governor that the Chief of Staff and commissioners who were terminated should report to his office in order to be considered for possible reassignment. This reorganisation is a manifestation of Governor Yusuf's resolve to enhance governance and adapt his administration to new issues as they arise.
