The hearing of preliminary objections in the bribery and misappropriation case against Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and seven other defendants has been postponed till February 13, 2025. This decision was made by the Kano State High Court.
The Kano State Government is the one that began the lawsuit, which contains charges of bribery and the misappropriation of public monies totalling billions of naira. Other defendants include Hafsat Umar, who is married to Ganduje, as well as a number of organisations and persons, including Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.
The hearings that were taking place on Wednesday were deferred by Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu so that she could consolidate the several petitions and applications that were given by the defence. Through the efforts of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) M.N. Duru, who was representing Ganduje and two other co-defendants, an earlier application that had been made on October 21 was attempted to be withdrawn and replaced with a revised one that was presented on November 18.
On the other hand, Adeola Adedipe, SAN, was against the withdrawal and urged the court to dismiss the application rather than strike it out. The withdrawal application was rejected by Justice Adamu-Aliyu, who also declined to consider the case that were submitted by the applicants. She decided that the next hearing would take place on February 13, 2025, which would be an important and significant milestone in the high-profile case.
